Kiss Appeal Lip Mask

My Kiss Appeal Lip Mask will pamper and soothe your lips. Before a good friend's wedding, someone gave each of us bridesmaids a small pot of lip mask to apply to our lips before applying our lipstick and make-up. While it felt really good going on, it was a bit drying, so I decided to whip up my own using the goodies I had on hand in my kitchen. Kiss Appeal Lip Mask is really soothing and especially nice after warming it in the microwave about 10 seconds before using.

Ingredients:
1 tablespoon + 1 teaspoon kaolin (China clay) or other cosmetic clay (I do not recommend green clay because it is probably too drawing for delicate lips)
1 teaspoon emu oil
1 teaspoon runny honey
1 tablespoon rose hydrosol

Blending Procedure:
1. Measure clay and set aside. White kaolin clay is the best to use because darker colored clays will dry out the lips.
2. Measure rose hydrosol and warm in the microwave about 20 seconds. (If you don't have rose hydrosol, you can use water but you'll miss out on the wonderful rose scent.)
3. Add emu oil to warm hydrosol and honey and stir well to incorporate. (You can substitute extra virgin olive oil for the emu oil.)
4. Add liquid mixture to clay and stir with a pop sickle stick to form a smooth paste. Use the pop sickle stick or a lip brush to apply the mask to your lips. Leave on for about 2 minutes, no more or it may dry out your lips. Rinse well with warm water, blot excess water gently and apply lip color as usual.
